Addition and Subtraction
We have begun a new unit on addition and subtraction. A parent math newsletter went home yesterday. Please take some time to review the ideas and consider some of the at home activities with your child.
At this point in grade 4, students should have a strong grasp of their mental math facts up to 20. This means that they should be able to add or subtract, with accuracy and speed, up to 20.
Mastery of this skill will allow your child increased accuracy as we move into adding and subtracting 4 digit numbers and also adding and subtracting mentally (without paper and pencil) numbers such as 49-21 or 23+14.
Looking for food flyers
I am collecting food flyers (Independent, Sobeys, Farm boy, Giant Tiger, etc.) for a future activity involving money. If you could save yours when you are finished, and send them in with your child, that would be appreciated.
